A tale of two disciplines? Philosophy in/on translation

We describe the genesis of this special issue on ‘philosophy in/on translation’: a symposium led to formation successful research group. The interface between philosophy and translation studies has become fruitful field, as evidenced by growing number conferences publications. Research into addresses three topics, identified Anthony Pym: what philosophers have said about translation; how theorists turn support their ideas; philosophical texts. argue for fourth link: that, following Derrida, implications (un)translatability shape very notion philosophy. Five future directions are mapped in detail: move beyond western canon, academy engages with process decolonisation; epistemic justice, researchers interrogate reject Anglophone models; substantive theories that will complement analytical enquiry; use tool; new translator detail contents ten chapters show authors both investigate phenomena provide ways moving forward. An exciting time lies ahead those who work interdisciplinary field.
